“When I first came from the encounter, it was great, I was on fire, I felt good, I felt different, but now, I don’t feel God as I did before, I feel distant, the fire is dying, I don’t know what’s wrong, maybe I need another encounter, what’s wrong with me?”

Nothing.

It’s Not Easy

Every Christian has had feelings of weariness in their walk. If you haven’t well then you really got the juice, because it’s a universal Christian issue.

You go to the encounter you feel the fire, you come back, refreshed, revived, on fire.

Daily devotions, Always in church, constantly evangelizing

Then suddenly, weariness creeps in.

Ministry becomes a chore

Devotions barely get done

You read your Bible sometimes

You feel the fire dying.

“Maybe I need another encounter; I need the fire again”

Now encounters are great, but they are gateways of growth.

Someone missed the nugget.

They’re meant to help you grow, not simply revive you.

The thing about the encounter is you’re isolated from the world. You don’t have your phone, away from your friends, It’s strictly you and God.

So it’s easy to encounter Him

We often overestimate the Christian experience and attribute the encounter with the location.

Forgetting we can literally have an encounter every day. The encounter isn’t enclosed in the 72 hrs, the pastor, leaders, or the church, it’s the heart.

The enemy will never hit you with his best at once, so weariness is just the beginning. he will do whatever he can to take you to hell with him, so you have to make a choice to encounter Jesus.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

I love the Bible. It’s so clear cut. The bible is literally telling us” Listen weariness exists, it’s gonna come, BUT overcome it, cause there’s a reward at the end.

Paul saying “Let us not become” means to me that I have the power to overcome, and I believe anything I can overcome comes from the enemy.

Weariness is not of God, C’mon

those who wait on the Lord… they will run and not grow weary”

— Isaiah 40:31

You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.”

— Revelation 2:3

It’s a trap of the enemy

The Bible constantly describes our relationship with God as a marriage, there are ups and downs.

It takes perseverance.

Science says it takes 21 days for anything to become a habit. SO naturally as human we get used to things quickly.

Meaning…

God can give you everything you want, but it may not be enough to you in your perspective because the longer you have something, the more comfortable it becomes.

We constantly want God to impress us?

But what have you done to impress God?

But Take It In

Last week Pastor Kofi took us to Acts 10:38 which reads

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Basic Bible dissection,

Jesus who went about doing good was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power

Paul tells us not to be weary in doing good …

So the formula for “doing good” is

Holy Ghost + Power = Good

How did Jesus obtain this anointing?

By constantly encountering God.

Each day should be a fresh encounter with God.

The level at which you knew Him yesterday, must change today!

Let’s make a decision to encounter Him daily.

It’s not easy, but it can be.
